Pittman works in Hattiesburg, so this book features Mississippi, only 1 chapter dedicated to our towering big sister to the west, New Orleans. Also acknowledged are the Guard and Volunteers, often overlooked in this type of book. Pittman devotes a section to each. This book is a mix of text and pictures which balance out nicely. There are over 120 photographs, with captions, in black & white and color, which seem to work.
